The European Commission
The EU's Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Development Marie Curie Actions are aimed at the development and transfer of research competencies, the consolidation and widening of researchers' career prospects, and the promotion of excellence in European research. EASY-ECO is financed under the Marie Curie Conferences and Training Courses scheme.

UNESCO
In its 57th Session in December 2002, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development for the period 2005-2014. The Decade of Education for Sustainable Development pursues a global vision: The vision of education for sustainable development is a world where everyone has the opportunity to benefit from quality education and learn the values, behaviour and lifestyles required for a sustainable future and for positive societal transformation.

In March 2005, EASY-ECO has been awarded an Official Decade Project by the German Commission for UNESCO.
